Rage from a passing driver
and thoughts on his charge of antisemitism
(video follows) I am happy to say that most of the words and signs I receive from passing motorists is positive; horn honking, thumbs up, “free Palestine!”, a V with the fingers and an upraised fist. But occasionally I get rage and this video is a perfect example. The man is beside himself with profanity until the stoplight turns green and then he roars off. Such angry people have yet to come up to me in person to express him or herself. I would have no objection to it, but I do not engage in emotional outbursts and rage doesn’t listen to reason. I said nothing to this guy and he would not be open to anything I might say. His attack is all the matters to him.
“Antisemite”, the verbal spear used by Zionists, is heard here along with “scumbag” but as the old saying goes, sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me.
I am questioning Jews as Americans, not distinct from all other Americans. The idea that Jews may not be questioned about what Israel does (or anything else) is nonsense, just as would be a prohibition on asking Americans about what America does. The fallacy is: because of the persecution that Jews have faced in history, they are a protected group that may not be asked about what is being done in their name by The Jewish State, Israel. Netanyahu proclaims that Jews will always be victims and nothing they do, that an outside observer would call offensive, can be anything other than defense, the observer automatically being an antisemite purely as a result of the criticism offered. This terrible psychological blindness is widespread in Israel.
Moreover, Netanyahu claims that he represents all Jews everywhere. It’s a false claim, but if Jews are silent then he is not contradicted. Silence is assent. It is the same if I as an American remained silent, as so many Americans did, when President Biden said, “we stand with Israel”. My refusal to be silent is shown by my vigil infuriating those who, like this driver, want me to be silent.
